NLC Launches First Containerized Flag Vessel Service for Gulf Countries

National Logistics Corporation (NLC) launched the first containerized Flag Vessel Service for the Gulf region. The service will initially operate with two vessels, with future plans for a phased expansion to meet the potential trade demands.

A ceremony to mark the launch of the service was held at Karachi Gateway Terminal Limited (KGTL) which was attended by senior officials of the NLC, representatives of the shipping line and members of the business community.

The vessel service will employ 1100 TEU container ship on a 10-day round trip schedule facilitating seamless maritime operations between Karachi, Jebel Ali (Dubai), and Dammam (Kingdom of Saudi Arabia).

It is worth mentioning here that it is the first ever Karachi-Gulf service by a Pakistan based organization and a shipping line with the facility of slot payment collection in PKR in Pakistan which will greatly benefit the exporters and importers.

The direct route provides an exceptionally effective 10-day transit between Karachi, Jebel Ali and Dammam by doing away with necessity for trans-shipment, guaranteeing quicker delivery dates and lower logistics expense.

This service aligns with government policy to enhance trade with the Gulf region, which will create new opportunities for importers and exporters in Pakistan, UAE and Saudi Arabia to grow their businesses and efficiently serve new customers.
